While Land of Promise does not claim to be a comprehensive, definitive history, it does endeavour to provide a vivid overview of the Jewish experience in Southern Alberta shortly before and during the early decades of the 20th century. Although not all families or individuals are included, the book covers a wide field based on photographs and family histories supplied by members of the Jewish community in response to an appeal by the JHHSA. Much of the content originally appeared in the successful travelling exhibit also entitled Land of Promise.
