The mandate of the Jewish Historical Society of Southern Alberta is to collect, record, preserve and present the history of Southern Alberta's Jews and of the communities they have built.

To this end, we maintain a library and archives. We publish a journal called Discovery, and we regularly mount photographic displays, among which have been two major exhibits, Land of Promise (1992-93) and A Joyful Harvest (2005). We have published a book based on the first exhibit and are now planning a book based on our second, Alberta centennial, exhibit.
